How is it that January seems to last an eternity and then February flashes by faster than you can flutter some Ardelle demi wispies?! Time to catch up on what I have been loving this past month… and a bit! Looks like you’ll be having two favourites posts this month as I already have things lined up for March!
I’ve got a cute little selection of goodies for February. Eye makeup has been a happy place for me recently and I treated my collection to a couple of new products that have proven to be bargain buys! Throw in a nice candle that has been transforming my bathroom into a spa, a BRILLIANT concealer and an oldie but goodie lip gloss and we’re good to go!
Makeup Revolution Choc Orange Eye Palette
If you want good quality for a small budget, Makeup Revolution ticks all boxes. This Choc Orange Mini palette has amazing pigmentation and staying power too. I love the warm tones, have received many compliments whenever I’ve used it and some of the shades have been really versatile for using either all over the lid or just as a soft liner on the upper and lower lash lines. There is a huge selection of different colour themes to choose from and the price tag of £6 makes it tempting to expand my collection even further. The fact it is a mini palette makes it portable in the smallest of makeup bags, there is a brilliantly sized mirror in the lid of the case plus it is sturdy which always impresses me as I can’t count the amount of hinges that have snapped on other more expensive palettes in the past!
Peaches and Cream Eye Pigments
I work on a lot of weddings and there is always a huge amount of popularity for eye products that shimmer and add a bit of sparkle. This can be tricky as some products can be a bit too glittery and cheapen the look plus others can fall out onto the cheeks and not adhere to the eye properly. And, let’s face it, no one really wants to look like a glitter ball on their big day!
I came across an image on Instagram that a fellow artist had posted and was instantly drawn to the eye makeup for its flawless colour pigment. Upon asking where I could get my hands on such literal gold dust, the kind stylist pointed me in the direction of Peaches and Cream, based in Liverpool, and I spent a good hour being transfixed by their video demonstrations of all their sparkly eye pigments.
I purchased two shades, Gatsby and Halo, and shall be purchasing more in the future. They have great lasting power, the glitter is a fine texture and doesn’t fall out onto the cheeks and have a very reasonable price tag of £6.95 per pot. You can buy bundles and make a saving, which I shall probably do but I needed to test run first. But I love them! Sparkles and glitter are just so happy and uplifting!
Elf Camo Concealer
I am always happy to discover a new concealer, so when I read about this new Camo Concealer from Elf Cosmetics, I hopped onto their website and grabbed myself one to try. I bought one that is a little too light for my skin tone, but have managed to blend it in and tone it back up with bronzer so it will work for my current skin tone until warmer weather hits. But, shade issues aside, I have been so impressed with the formulation of this.
Elf say this has up to 16 hours wear time and I can confirm that it does stay on the skin all day. It has a doe foot applicator that makes it super easy to use. The formulation is quite thick but it blends out really well and is obviously a full coverage concealer. Any of you struggling with dark circles and high pigmentation will not regret buying this. It is a little prone to collecting in dry areas so would advise a good moisturiser and primer/foundation before applying.
And again, the price tag was a winner. Just £5 for hiding a multitude of skin tone sins!
‘Relax’ Candle from DW Home
I picked this up as a treat from my local TKMaxx so you may be lucky checking out their site but I’ve managed to track down their site in the US and their pricing seems pretty reasonable. I always buy my candles at TKMaxx though, so shout out to them for feeding my scented wax addiction!
This one has Lavender and Chamomile essential oils and has been turning my bath time into such a relaxing and spa like experience. Much needed at the moment as wedding season is approaching and I have been enjoying a little bit of switching off time of an evening.
I’ll link to the candle on the US site here, just in case you do want a look at what they offer. But, this inclusion for February has been more of a prompt to make time for yourself, pamper yourself and embrace a little quiet luxury. You won’t be sorry!
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector
I have spoken about the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector before on my Instagram way back last summer when I first bought it, but it deserves to take pride of place in a favourites post because it really is a favourite. A luxury gloss that moisturises and smooths out the lips with a plumping effect at the same time – what’s not to like?
I have the shade candy shimmer… which I must admit put me off a little bit when I was making my selection but once it arrived I realised it has a lovely peachy pink tone that has proven to be very complimentary on warmer skin tones. It’s not sticky or greasy, its stays on nicely and works well on its own or as a top coat to another lip colour.
It is a more luxury buy I must admit, with a price tag of £18.50 but it pays for itself by the sheer volume of times you reach to put it on and a little goes a long way. And Clarins have a current promotion where if you sign up to their mailing list, you receive 10% off so there’s a little saving tip for you!
I hope you like my choices for February, stay tuned for March in a couple of weeks and comment below which things you are loving at the moment!
